The Hanoi Times - The Ministry of Science and Technology launched the Trans-Eurasia Information Network (TEIN 3) in Hanoi. The launch of TEIN 3 was approved by leaders from Asian and European countries at the 7th Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM 7) in Beijing in October 2008.

TEIN 3 is the latest version of the Trans-Eurasia Information Network (TEIN) - the first large-scale research and training network in the Asia-Pacific Region, which links regional researchers with colleagues in Europe. TEIN 3 will receive EUR18 million from European and Asia partner countries.

Early this year, TEIN 3 began operating in Vietnam at a speed of 155 Mbps, following the success of the TEIN 2 network linking China, Indonesia, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Laos, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Australia.

The new network enables more countries to connect and operates at higher speed, creating conditions for rapid cooperation.
