Vietnam has been ranked 9th on the InterNations’ 2018 Expat Insider survey, climbing three spots from last year.

InterNations, the largest network for people who live and work abroad, this year ranked 65 economies by looking at comments from nearly 13,000 expats from 188 countries and territories.
Portugal was named the place with the happiest expats, followed by Taiwan, where most expats said they felt at home, and Mexico, where many said it was easy to settle down and acclimatize to the local culture.
Vietnam welcomed 12.9 million international visitors during 2017, up 29.1% against 2016. In general, tourism activities in 2017 bore impressive results. The tourism industry has adopted many policies and measures to attract tourists, with promotions and the introduction of Vietnam’s tourism in key markets such as Australia, Japan, Europe, and ASEAN, visa exemptions for five Western European countries, greater participating at international tourism fairs, and the arrival of foreign tourism delegations, according to the latest figures from the General Statistics Office.
In the first two months of 2018, more than 2.86 million international tourist arrived to Vietnam, increasing by 29.7% compared to 2017, according to the General Statistics Office.
Vietnam expects to welcome between 15 and 17 million international and 78 million domestic tourists in 2018, with total revenue expected to hit VND620 trillion (US$27.28 billion), up 21.35% annually, according to Vietnam National Administration of Tourism.
