THE HANOI TIMES — As many as 34 Vietnamese teams have been selected at the 2025 Robotacon – World Robot Olympiad (WRO), known as the Robot Talent Contest, to compete in Singapore with international groups from countries leading in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

The winning teams of the ROBOCON–WRO tournament in Vietnam will participate in the international competition, which will be held in November this year. This year’s contest was co-organized by the Embassy of Denmark in Vietnam, Viet Tinh Anh JSC, and LEGO Education.

Speaking at the award ceremony of the 2025 Robotacon WRO, Lasse Pedersen Hjortshøj, Charge d'Affaires of the Danish Embassy in Vietnam, highly valued the contest, saying it’s a good playground for students to promote their competence and creativity.

“Robotacon WRO is always a useful and interesting playground where you can develop your skills and apply what you have learned in real life.” He said the contestants had dramatic but interesting days, and they have shown their talents to the best of their capabilities.

Investing in education is the most valuable and long-term investment for the future of the country. Robotacon WRO is not just a competition; it is a place to inspire students to think creatively and solve problems, Lasse Pedersen Hjortshøj added.

Nguyen Quang Tri, Vinamilk's Marketing Executive Director, shared: “I have directly experienced the exciting and fierce atmosphere of the competition, and I am so surprised by the students' talents in programming, automation, and creativity. This makes me even more confident in the future generations of Vietnam."

He hopes that the students will continue to create success for themselves, help the community, and live better. Vinamilk is very happy to accompany and support Vietnamese talents to shine and bring the message of sustainable development from Vietnam to the world," said Tri.

First held in 2004, ROBOTACON–WRO is a prestigious educational contest that runs for students aged six to 19 who are interested in LEGO robotics. It is a competition based on a STEAM educational approach, which has so far attracted more than 22,000 contestants from more than 90 countries.

Through various robotics competitions and challenges, they are given a platform to showcase their critical thinking and problem-solving skills, as well as to develop new projects.

Every year sees thousands of teams compete at the national level, whilst 600 teams, equivalent to 2,000 contestants, participate in the international final round, which is held alternately among the member countries.

Since 2016, Vietnamese teams have gained many impressive achievements at World WRO competitions, including three silver and eight bronze medals.
