Vietnam’s longest ao dai displayed

On April 22, the Vietnam Guinness Book of Records listed the traditional Ao Dai at the Hung Kings Temple Festival and the Tourism Week in Phu Tho Province as the longest ever.

The dress, a masterpiece designed by Phuong Ho, is 178 meters long and weighs 200 kilograms. It was made in two months. The dress is embroidered with 3D images of local cultural features and historical and popular travel spots.

On April 22, Guinness Vietnam also listed Phu Tho's 500-meter-long Golden Bridge as the longest footbridge, and the festival's fashion show as the one with the largest number of people dressed in Ao Dai.

Hanoi introduces smart route finder BusMap

The smart and user-friendly BusMap Hanoi application was launched on April 22 to make bus travel easier for local passengers.

The launch of the app is part of the project developed by the Hanoi Department of Transport and the Hanoi Mass Transit Management Center to digitize the city's mobility network.

BusMap Hanoi app allows users to find the best trips on an intelligent platform in real time. Users can also find information about other modes of transportation such as shared rides, taxis, and light rail.

The app, which also features voice assistance for the blind, is a product of the mobility technology company Phenikaa MaaS.


Remittances rise by one-fifth in first quarter: HCM City

According to the State Bank of Vietnam, HCM City received remittances worth nearly US$2.2 billion in the first quarter of the year, a year-on-year increase of 19.4%.

This rate was even higher than the year-on-year growth rate of 14.2% in the first quarter of 2022.

In 2022, HCM City announced total remittances of US$6.6 billion, the highest among all provinces and cities in the country.

According to Nguyen Duc Lenh, deputy director of the State Bank of Vietnam HCM City, remittances are expected to continue to increase in the remaining months of the year.

US$11,400 fines for illegally karaoke clubs

Authorities in Hanoi have fined two local karaoke clubs a total of VND268 million (US$11,400) for operating illegally.

The two karaoke clubs are located in Ba Dinh District and Thanh Tri District.

The clubs were reportedly operating without permits and fire prevention qualification certificates.

Other violations included inadequate structure for fire prevention and rescue, and indecent exposure.
