Vietnam hopes for peaceful solutions in Middle East
Vietnam is ready to join peacekeeping activities in the Middle East and provide aid and security to local people, foreign ministry’s spokesperson Pham Thu Hang said at a press conference on October 18.
Vietnam also calls on relevant parties to cease hostilities and stop their military actions while respecting international laws, and continue talks to ensure stability for people, the spokesperson said, referring to tensions between Hamas and Israel in recent weeks.
Transport Ministry seeks public feedback on national express railway
Vietnam is considering building a high-speed rail line to connect the north and south and promote socio-economic development. |
Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha on October 18 asked the Ministry of Transport to gather expert opinions on the development of the national express railway and organize conferences to address problems and discuss feasible measures for the project.
The project is considered a key driver of Vietnam's socio-economic growth, boosting urban development, industrial production, tourism, and services in the areas it runs through.
Hanoi to discuss social, health insurance for FDI enterprises next week
Hanoi will host a social and health insurance conference next week (October 23-24) to resolve existing social insurance issues in FDI enterprises. The conference will be attended by nearly 100 Japanese FDI enterprises from Hanoi, Haiphong, Hai Duong, Hung Yen, Bac Giang, and Bac Ninh.
The Vietnam Social Security will present honorary awards to Japanese individuals and organizations for their contributions to the country's social security.
Vietnam ranked among best countries for remote work: GRWI 2023
Vietnam ranks 59th out of 108 economies in the Global Remote Work Index (GRWI) 2023, according to the latest research by cybersecurity firm NordLayer, which highlights the country's internet quality, digital infrastructure, and progress in e-government.
The 2023 GRWI reveals the best and worst countries for remote work across four key criteria: cyber security, economic security, digital and physical infrastructure, and social security.
Vietnam-US trade turnover exceeds US$80 billion in Jan-Sep
Total trade turnover between Vietnam and the US exceeded US$80 billion in the first nine months of 2023, according to the General Department of Customs, of which export turnover reached US$70.23 billion, down 21% year-on-year. The US remains Vietnam's largest export market.
Vietnam attends Frankfurt International Book Fair 2023 this week
A Vietnamese delegation from the Truth National Political Publishing House is attending the 2023 Frankfurt Book Fair in Germany on October 18-22, engaging in various meetings, exchanges, and cooperation with publishing units from countries such as the UK, France, and China.
The event, the 75th edition of its kind, attracts over 4,000 publishers from around the world.
Vietnamese-born woman becomes Korean fighter pilot
Lee Ho-jeong, a 41-year-old Vietnamese immigrant to South Korea, has become a national pilot, according to the ROF Air Force. Lee will fly a T-50 fighter jet at the Seoul International Aerospace and Defense Exhibition this weekend.
Lee immigrated to South Korea in 2001 following her marriage and became a Korean citizen in 2007. A mother of two, Lee works at a local bank and teaches Vietnamese to Koreans.
Khanh Hoa launches gift design contest 2023
The Designing Gifts for Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa 2023 contest was launched on October 18 to create an identity system for the Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa tourism brand to promote local tourism. Participants in the competition will submit their entries to the Khanh Hoa Tourism Promotion Information Center (61 Yersin, Phuong Sai Ward, Nha Trang City). Submissions will be accepted until the end of November 2023, and the results announcement and award ceremony will be held at the end of the year.
