Son La Coffee Processing Plant Inaugurated
The inauguration ceremony of the VND260-billion (US$10.6 million) Son La Coffee Processing Plant took place on October 21 in Muong Bon Commune, Mai Son District, in the presence of Vuong Dinh Hue, Chairman of the National Assembly. The large and modern plant has a processing capacity of 50,000 tons of fresh coffee berries per year (equivalent to 12,500 tons of green coffee beans annually), equipped with synchronized production lines and wastewater and solid waste treatment systems.
The event is part of the activities of the first Son La Coffee Festival in 2023 with the theme "Arabica, Son La Coffee - Flavors of the Northwest Forests."
Hanoi to host Vietnam Martech Innovation Expo 2023

Vietnam Martech Innovation Expo 2023, the leading marketing technology exhibition in Vietnam and Southeast Asia, will be held from October 28 to November 1 at Hoa Lac Innovation Hub, Thach That District, Hanoi.
The conference will bring together dozens of speakers, experts, leaders, innovative enterprises from various countries, domestic enterprises, banks, investment funds, and consulting firms to share insights into communication and marketing in the digital age. The event will also include activities around the development strategy of the Vietnam MarTech ecosystem and network until 2025, the Vietnam MarTech Network, and the Women In Tech & Innovation Excellence Awards ceremony.
Farmers' Network - Journey of Digital Farmers platform launched
The launch ceremony of the Farmers' Network - Journey of Digital Farmers platform was held on October 21 on the website: mangnhanong.vn. It is expected to connect stakeholders in the agricultural industry and promote digital transformation in agriculture.
The platform, supported by artificial intelligence (AI), will help farmers, cooperatives, and agribusinesses with tools to manage crop seasons, increase productivity, improve the quality of agricultural products, and enhance management efficiency.
Hanoi to operate citywide shared agricultural database by 2025
Hanoi has set a goal to build and operate a citywide shared agricultural database by 2025. The initiative aims to strengthen management capacity, mitigate animal diseases, and ensure the safety of animal-based food within Hanoi's jurisdiction between 2023 and 2030.
By 2030, Hanoi's shared agricultural database will be integrated with the national database, facilitating effective use of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development's software and data repositories. It will also enable the connection, exchange, and sharing of information with localities for better management practices.
Japanese financial service company buys local firm for $175 million
AEON Financial Service, a member of Japanese commercial center developer AEON Group, has acquired Post and Telecommunication Finance Co Ltd (PTF) from SeABank for VND4.3 trillion (US$175 million).
PTF was established in October 1998 by the Vietnam Post and Telecommunication Group (VNPT). In 2018, VNPT transferred its financial services unit to SeABank. AEON Financial Service started its operations in Vietnam in 2008.
First digital art space opened in Hue City
Song Lab (Life Lab), Vietnam's first digital art exhibition space, opened on October 20 in Hue City, Thua Thien-Hue Province. The space covers an area of 1,000 m2 with five exhibition rooms and a total investment of VND50 billion ($2 million).
The display rooms are all equipped with modern devices, including laser lights and a screen, to suit visitors' tastes in role-playing, installation art, and 3D visuals.
Vietnam’s community learning project honored by US Congress
The Library of Congress this week named the Vietnamese community learning project Compassion Books and House of Wisdom as one of the Successful Practices Honorees for the 2023 Literacy Awards.
The project was founded in 2017 by businessman Nguyen Anh Tuan and his friends to make books accessible to everyone. The project has provided nearly 20,100 bookshelves and 1.1 million books to 3,000 schools and communities, as well as 168 Houses of Wisdom in 12 provinces and cities in Vietnam and six other countries.
