Vietnam Online Shopping Week & Online Friday 2021 start from November 27

Local consumers have the opportunity to shop online with many discounts.

Vietnam Online Shopping Week will take place from November 27 to December 4 while Online Friday 2021 will run from December 3 to 5 with the aim to stimulate consumption and promote the development of Vietnam’s e-commerce.

Within the Online Shopping Week, a series of activities will be held such as: GoOnline Series 1, a press conference to announce the program “Vietnam national store on JD.com e-commerce platform”, launching ceremony of National Promotion Month 2021 and an online marketing seminar.

Meanwhile, this year's Online Friday will attract a huge number of e-commerce businesses such as Shopee, Tiki, Sendo, Voso and Lazada, manufacturing businesses, and other distributors who will offer exclusive discounts of up to 100%.

Speaking at the kickoff event on November 26, Le Duc Anh, Director of the Center for Information and Digital Technology under the Vietnam eCommerce and Digital Economy Agency (the Ministry of Industry and Trade) said that in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic, an explosive surge in online shopping has contributed to building a healthy e-commerce market in Vietnam, bringing online shopping services closer to consumers. 

Within the framework of the ceremony, the Go Online program to help businesses transform from traditional to omni-channel model was also announced.

Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan said the ministry expected that  these events will contribute to promoting the development of Vietnam's e-commerce in particular and the industry in general.

He added in order for the program to be implemented effectively, the deputy minister required products participated in the events must have clear origin and be genuine, ensuring the trust of consumers.

“For businesses operating in the field of e-commerce, it is necessary for them to offer promotions and discounts be aware of the needs of consumers in the year-end shopping season,” Tan said.

The Vietnam Online Shopping Day program - Online Friday has been implemented since 2014, with the total sales of participating businesses at their peak reaching over VND160 billion (US$7 million).

In 2020, the program drew the participation of more than 3,000 businesses with nearly 250,000 genuine items and products.
