Vietnam Railways to sell 330,000 tickets for Tet 2026 travel

Tickets will be available on official railway websites, mobile apps, e-wallets, bank applications, ticket agents and hotlines of Hanoi and Saigon stations.

THE HANOI TIMES — State-owned operator Vietnam Railways will begin selling about 330,000 tickets from September 20 for the upcoming Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday.

To accommodate the surge in passengers during Tet, which falls on February 16–19, 2026, the company said it will operate 55 passenger trains daily with more than 800 carriages in service.

On the North-South route, seven pairs of Thong Nhat trains, including SE1/SE2, SE3/SE4, SE5/SE6, SE7/SE8, SE9/SE10, SE11/SE12 and SE23/SE24, will run daily. Two additional pairs, TN3/4 and TN5/6, will connect  Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

Priority sales will take place from September 17 to 19 for group passengers, including members of the armed forces, universities, industrial parks, social organizations and enterprises.

From 8:00 AM on September 20, tickets will be available on official railway websites, mobile apps, e-wallets, bank applications, ticket agents and hotlines of Hanoi and Saigon stations.

Each passenger may book and purchase up to 10 tickets for the outbound journey and 10 for the return journey per trip.

Buyers must present identification when purchasing directly at stations or authorized ticket agents. Vietnam Railways has also warned passengers not to buy tickets through brokers to avoid fraud.
