Vietnam, Senegal sign agreement to bolster parliamentary cooperation
The cooperation enables the two countries to boost exchanges and multilateral coordination, mainly in capacity building, investment, agriculture, and technology transfer.

The agreement outlines collaboration in four key areas: high-level delegation exchanges, sharing legislative experience, multilateral cooperation, and joint initiatives.
Both sides agreed to increase visits by parliamentary leaders, lawmakers, and officials, as well as strengthen exchanges between friendship groups and legislative bodies, in order to foster mutual understanding and policy coordination.
The two parliaments will exchange information on lawmaking, oversight, and national decision-making and will cooperate in training programs for legislators and staff.
In multilateral settings, Vietnam and Senegal will support and coordinate with each other at forums such as the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and the Parliamentary Assembly of La Francophonie (APF), among other international mechanisms.
They will also consult and coordinate on global issues to advocate together for peace, sustainable development, and global cooperation.
The agreement includes provisions for co-hosting seminars, training sessions, and research initiatives on specific themes. It encourages regular contact and practical collaboration between parliamentary committees and friendship groups.
Earlier that day, the two leaders witnessed the formation of the Vietnam-Senegal and Senegal-Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Groups, which are chaired by Vu Hai Ha, Deputy Secretary of the Communist Party Committee of the National Assembly, and Ramatoulaye Bodian, Vice President of the Senegalese National Assembly, respectively.
These groups will play a key role in implementing joint activities and advancing parliamentary diplomacy.
This agreement marks a new chapter in the bilateral relationship by laying a stronger foundation for a closer legislative partnership between Vietnam and Senegal which established bilateral relations in 1969.
