Vietnam wins first prize at the International Puppet Festival

The puppet performance titled "The melody of homeland" of the Vietnam Puppetry Theatre has been selected as the most outstanding program at the International Puppet Festival held in Bangkok, Thailand.

Thanks to the traditional folk melody of Vietnam and puppets made from traditional material such as rattan and bamboo, ‘The Melody of Homeland’ performance is considered a special performance, reflecting the daily life of Vietnamese famers.
 
The show was performed by artists from the Vietnam Puppetry Theatre, including People’s Artist Thuy Trang, Meritorious Artist Tien Dung, Kim Thoa, Thu Hoan, The Long, The Hien, Ngoc Triu and Thu Huong.
The grand prize honour marks the first award for Vietnam puppetry at the international puppet festival.
The Harmony World Puppet Carnival, held in Bangkok, Thailand from November 1-10, drew the participation of 160 art troupes with 120 special art programmes.
"The melody of homeland" program has surpassed 120 official entries from over 80 countries of five continents to win the grand prize of the festival (no special prize, second prize and third prize). In addition, only some additional prizes for the mass street address visual, music awards, actor award, best female.
For friends in the world, "The melody of homeland" gave the audience a lot of different emotions of everyday life - human, rustic scenery. Overall the program is to connect a harmonious, attractive, lively between the music, the movement of the puppets and the changing rhythmic space stage.
Representative of Vietnam Puppetry Theatre said that puppet show "The melody of homeland" was originally done following order of the Ministry of Culture on the occasion of 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam - Canada. Then, the Theatre continues to train and raise up to performing for many events at home and abroad, such as China, Japan, etc. The program has been awarded B Artist Dramatic Society in 2014.
In 2013, " The melody of homeland" attended the Asian theater festival, theater festival in China and ASEAN countries in Nanning and Yunnan (China), awarded the audience votes prize.
Established in 2008, World Puppet Festival (Harmony World Puppet Carnival) is held annually. The Festival is considered as one of the world’s largest cultural event in 2014.
