The Australian government is completing final procedures to grant import licenses for Vietnamese mangoes. This will be the second Vietnamese fruit which is allowed to enter the foreign market.
Vietnamese mangoes are about to be imported to Australia

According to the Vietnam Trade Office in Australia, Australian agencies are finalising procedures to allow the import of Vietnamese mangoes into Australia from 2016. That was good news for Vietnamese farmers as well as enterprises trading in fruit products, the office said. Now, the office has implemented market research and connected with Australian partners to prepare export activities of Vietnamese mangoes to Australia soon after receiving the licence.
In 2013, the Vietnamese Farmers Association in North Australia with 100 Vietnamese farming households, built a distribution system of Vietnamese mangoes with popular brand names in the Australian market, including Vina Mango and T.V Farms, Binh Duong Farm and Saigon Farm.
On April 4, 2016, on the sidelines of the visit to North Australia made by ASEAN ambassadors, Vietnamese Ambassador to Australia Luong Thanh Nghi, and Head of Vietnam Trade Office in Australia Nguyen Thi Hoang Thuy, had a meeting with the executive committee of Vietnamese Farmers Association in North Australia, reported chinhphu.vn.
The Vietnamese Commercial Affairs office in Australia reported that they are conducting a series of activities on market research and business connectivity. Earlier, the Australian Ministry of Agriculture in 2015 permitted the import of Vietnamese litchi. Australia is one of the countries applying the hardest quarantine regulations in the world.
Viet Nam must conduct surveys on litchi cultivation zones and packaging units and work with local management agencies on pest control at plantation gardens and on potential of litchi exports. Bringing litchi to Australia not only helps diversify markets for litchi but also creates opportunities for other fruits like dragon fruits, longan and mango to be shipped to the Australian market.
The association is committed to support the import and distribution of Vietnamese mangoes in the Australian market. Last year, after 12 years of waiting, Vietnam received approval from Australia’s Department of Agriculture to export lychees to their market.
