The contest was held under the framework of the “Local Solutions for Plastic Pollution” (LSPP) project, implemented by GreenHub and funded by the US Agency for International Development (USAID), and the Plastic Reduction Campaign of VZWA. It is one of the cooperation activities by the members of Plastic & Health Action Partnership (PHA).
Starting on April 22, the contest attracted 364 entries showing the plastic waste pollution in many provinces and cities. According to the organizers, the contest aimed to collect photos that reflect the current situation of plastic waste treatment through creative angles.
Those photos will be a resource for PHA to contribute to the digital platform (nhuavasuckhoe.vn) which shares the scientific data on plastic waste and health to raise people's awareness of the matter, induce behavior changes and promote green practices as well as increase community participation in plastic waste solutions and health.
Author Vuong Thuy Trang of the work “Dead canals in the middle of magnificent Saigon” said: “For my team, it is not only about photos of garbage, PlasPics Hunter directly affects the thinking of young people in particular and society in general about the environmental situation, reflects the “plasticized” lifestyle today.”
Trang added that, after having the opportunity to set foot in places highly polluted by plastic, her group realized the danger and seriousness of the problems of plastic waste in the environment.“From awareness to action, we will try to contribute more efforts to spread green living messages to the community as a responsibility of a green generation,” she said.
