VNU-Hanoi listed among Asia's 100 leading educational institutions

The ranking highlights VNU-Hanoi’s continued excellence and influence in academia, as well as reflects the growing prestige of Vietnamese universities on the global stage.

The Vietnam National University-Hanoi (VNU-Hanoi) has once again maintained the top spot in the country and ranks 15th in Southeast Asia in the recently released Webometrics Ranking of World Universities 2024.

Accordingly, VNU-Hanoi ranked 771st globally and secured a spot among the top 100 institutions in Asia. This marks the third consecutive year it has been listed in the global top 800 for academic impact.

The rankings, announced by the Cybermetrics Lab under the Spanish National Research Council on July 23, evaluate universities based on their online visibility (impact), accessibility of academic resources on Google Scholar (openness), and scientific citation metrics in the Scopus database (excellence). Online impact constitutes 50% of the ranking, research citation 40%, and openness 10%.

VNU-Hanoi is one of ten Vietnamese higher education institutions in the second Webometrics rankings of 2024. Several other Vietnamese universities also made the list, including Ton Duc Thang University, Duy Tan University, Nguyen Tat Thanh University, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology-VNU, Thuy Loi University, University of Danang, and Can Tho University.

The ranking highlights VNU-Hanoi’s continued excellence and influence in academia, as well as reflects the growing prestige of Vietnamese universities on the global stage.

Webometrics is an automatically updated ranking that evaluates the digitization capacity and spreading level, impacting academic resources of higher education institutions based on indicators of diffusion, the influence of website and online information system (visibility), the openness of academic resources on Google Scholar, and scientific citation index on Scopus database system (excellence) of a higher institution education.

Twice a year, at the beginning and middle of the year, Webometrics publishes ranking results for universities around the world based on the school’s website and science indicators.
