Wandering Hanoi Old Quarter

In the Old Quarter, many people will find themselves in a showcase of traditional crafts.

Hanoi’s Old Quarter is a very ancient corner of the capital with the houses, streets still retaining the original look from the late nineteenth century. Visitors can wander the quarter many days to discover the specialties of this place. And anyone who has ever come here cannot forget to sip coffee, explore the night market or stop at the street.

If the streets are busy, the deep small alleys still have a peaceful life with time-tinged houses. There, visitors have the opportunity to explore the ancient living space of a typical family in Hanoi. Particularly, the heritage house No. 87 in Ma May Street, which still retains the soul of the old Hanoi architecture.

When you get tired, you can stop at one of the four notorious coffee shops: Nhan, Nhi, Di, Giang, which are famous throughout the country, to sip coffee in the old town, quietly looking at the street life or immersing in old-tinted space of the low wooden frames and timepieces and furniture. It will be a memorable experience not only for visitors but also for many who have lived in the millennial land.

If you feel hungry, you can visit any street food vending post where there are many delicious and typical foods of Hanoi. Guests can taste dried beefsteak papaya salad around the Hoan Kiem Lake, beef noodle soup in Gia Ngu and Bat Dan streets. Especially when stopping at any street, you can easily find yourself a delicious Hanoi food flavor.
In the Old Quarter, many people will find themselves in a showcase of traditional crafts. Because many streets still retain traditional crafts with craftsmen from the countryside around the ancient Thang Long.

The weekend market is also an interesting experience for tourists. Starting from Hang Dao Street, ending at Dong Xuan Market, the night market has hundreds of booths selling diverse kinds of goods. From the stalls of famous handicraft villages such as Van Phuc silk, Bat Trang pottery, Phu Vinh rattan and bamboo... to the souvenir shops, clothes, shoes... But the night market is not only for buying and selling. Visitors can also learn about folk arts and cultural activities such as ca tru... every Saturday night.
It can be said, being in Hanoi without wandering in the old town, visitors would miss a pleasant experience.
