What’s new about "Hanoi Five Gates" train?

The “Hanoi Five Gates” train invites passengers to step aboard a journey through the city's rich past and vibrant present.

THE HANOI TIMES Hanoi has long been renowned for its historic Old Quarter, picturesque lakes and deep-rooted cultural heritage.

In its tourism strategy, rail travel holds an important place. It associates the journeys around Hanoi to other provinces and cities.

With the introduction of the "Hanoi Five Gates" train as a destination in its own right, the city has taken a significant step in reshaping the landscape of urban tourism.

This newly launched double-decker train features 10 carriages, five of which are inspired by Hanoi’s ancient city gates of Cau Den, Quan Chuong, Cau Giay, Cho Dua and Dong Mac.

These iconic gates once stood guard around the historic Thang Long Citadel. Today, the legacies live on through the beautiful designs on the train, reflecting the grandeur of Vietnamese architecture.

According to a representative of the Vietnam Railways Corporation, the five-gates-inspired train encourages rail travel over road transport.

This journey offers passengers a greener and more relaxing way to explore the capital, with free from traffic congestion and stress.

Embark on a journey with The Hanoi Times to uncover the charm of this extraordinary train.

Step inside and you’re greeted by a modern and luxurious space.

Each two-story carriage can accommodate 40 to 60 passengers, ensuring a comfortable ride whether you’re traveling solo or with family.

The train’s interior seamlessly combines contemporary design with Indochinese nostalgia, offering a visually captivating experience for visitors.

The rich textures, elegant details, and warm lighting create a cultural ambiance that echoes Hanoi’s past stories.

From the sweeping exterior curves to the intricate interior motifs, every inch of the train reflects Hanoi's thousand-year history.

Through wide glass windows, passengers can soak in panoramic views of Hanoi’s bustling streets and hidden corners throughout the journey.

This Instagram-ready space is a promising check-in spot for photo lovers.

From the delicate harmonies of ca tru and xam singing to the enjoyment of local signature snacks, the train transforms each journey into a vibrant display of Hanoi’s cultural heritage.

The "Hanoi Five Gates" train is the first trip of the Vietnamese railway sector that uses biometric ticket verification through chip-based citizen ID cards.

The train operates three times daily at 8 a.m, 2 p.m and 8.30 p.m. It gives travelers flexible options for day and night adventures.

The journey starts at the Hanoi Railway Station, traveling through historical terminals of Long Bien, Gia Lam and Yen Vien, and onward to Bac Ninh Province and back.

The train tours offer a magical perspective of Hanoi, illuminating ancient streets and a dynamic Old Quarter.

It’s an experience designed to enrich Hanoi’s tourism offerings…

...and leaves lasting joys with every visit.
