Young folk singer Dang Tu Thanh dies at 14

The teenage folk singer is widely known for her participation in children's game shows in the early 2010s.

Fourteen-year-old folk singer Dang Tu Thanh died in a traffic accident on July 1 when her motorbike collided with a five-seater car in Haiphong's Do Son district.

Thanh reportedly suffered exsanguination and multiple injuries while her sister, the motor driver, was hurt seriously and taken to Hanoi for treatment.

The five-seater car was damaged on the side of the driver's seat. The road was reportedly clear, with few vehicles traveling at the time of the accident.

The teenage singer was widely known throughout the country after participating in several game shows, such as Nguoi hung ti hon (The Little Hero), Biet tai ti hon (The Little Talent), and Guong mat than quen (Your Face Sounds Familiar).

In 2016, Thanh was recognized as Vietnam’s youngest folk singer by the Vietnam Record Association (VietKings).

In recent years, Thanh has mainly performed at local charity shows and honed her professional skills rather than singing at commercial events.

Thanh idolized the late Xam performer Ha Thi Cau, who passed away in early March 2013. She could also perform folk genres such as cheo, xoan, ca tru and vong co.

The accident occurred on the Hai Phong-Thai Binh beach road, which was not completed, and only authorized people and vehicles were allowed to use it.
