The Hanoitimes - Hoi An has been named among the top 13 best destinations for solo travelers, according to Momondo, a UK`s travel fare aggregator and travel fare metasearch engine.
Accordingly, Hoi An town in the central province of Quang Nam has been ranked the second on the list best destinations for the solo traveler.
A well-preserved former trading port on Vietnam’s central coast, Hoi An is a melting pot of cultures and architecture. Hoi An known for its high-quality and affordable clothing, you can buy anything from T-shirts and shorts to suits and dresses, or even have a specially made garment made at a very affordable price.

“Cars are banned from the city center, so stroll through the old town on foot and admire the street-side cafes and picturesque historical homes lining canals and winding alleyways,” Momondo wrote.
Alternatively, do as the locals do and hop on a bike to see the city or opt for a guided bike tour. You can even cycle to the pristine beach of An Bang, just a little under 5km away, the site says.
Hoi An’s diverse culinary scene stems from Japanese, Chinese and Portuguese influences, and many restaurants offer their own cooking classes. “Don’t leave without trying a bowl of cao lau, the signature noodle dish only found in Hoi An,” Momondo suggested.
Hoi An (Quang Nam province) is preceded by Bordeaux (France) on the
Momondo list of the best destinations for solo travelers. They are followed by Ghent (Belgium), Split (Croatia), Baños (Ecuador), etc.
Earlier, Hoi An also made the list 10 intriguing travel destinations in Southeast Asia in 2018, as voted by readers of Rough Guides, a UK-based travel site. In 2017, Hoi An ranked seventh among the world’s 15 best cities voted by readers of Travel + Leisure, a US travel site.
In 2017, Hoi An received 3.2 million tourists, a year-on-year increase of 21.66%, according to Quang Nam province's Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The 3.22 million visitors included 1.78 million foreigners and 1.44 million domestic visitors. As many as 2.38 million tourists visited Hoi An Ancient Town, up 28.16% and 400,000 ones went to Cu Lao Cham Island.
