Awarding the friendship insignia to Indonesian Ambassador to Vietnam

A ceremony to present the “For Peace and Friendship among nations” insignia to outgoing Indonesian Ambassador to Vietnam Mayerfas in recognising his contributions to strengthen the two countries’ relations was held in Hanoi on January 25.

During the Ambassador’s tenure in Vietnam, the bilateral relationship has been consolidated and developed significantly, showed clearly through the establishment of the strategic partnership between Vietnam and Indonesia in June, 2013, and the signing of over 30 cooperation agreements in various fields, increasing two-way trade value and investment.

Indonesia was the fifth biggest investor in the country among ASEAN nations, with 39 projects by the end of last year. 
During the period, relations between the two countries’ ministries, sectors and peoples have been fostered, with the highlight of the establishment of the Indonesia-Vietnam Friendship Association in 2015. 
Addressing the ceremony, Chairman of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) Vu Xuan Hong attributed the great achievements in bilateral ties in the past four years to tireless efforts made by the diplomat.
Speaking at the event, Ambassador Mayerfas said that he is honoured to receive such a noble reward fom the VUFO.
The Ambassador pledged to continue working to cement the special friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries and peoples.
