Blood donation tightens Thailand-Vietnam relationship

Thanks to a joint effort between entities in Thailand and Vietnam, blood donation drives are held periodically in July and December.

THE HANOI TIMES — The Thai Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) partnered with the Vietnamese Red Cross Society–HCMC and the Red Journey Program to launch a blood donation drive on July 20.

Consul General Moodhitaporn said the event was conducted under the "Good Deeds from the Heart" volunteer program, stemming from the Thai King's aspiration to foster the happiness and welfare of all people.

She stressed that the blood donation campaign serves as a concrete expression of gratitude towards Vietnam, which has warmly welcomed the Thai community residing and working within its borders.

Nguyen Tuan Khoi, Deputy Head of the Red Journey Program's organizing board, said voluntary blood donation is an act of compassion and community solidarity.

He stated that the event contributed to replenishing blood supplies for emergency care and treatment and helped strengthen the friendship between Vietnam and Thailand.

Over the past years, the Thai Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City has held blood donation campaigns every July and December.
