The book, published in Vietnamese and Thai languages, aims to celebrate the 45th anniversary of diplomatic ties (August 6, 1976 - 2021) between the two countries.

Written by Dr. Truong Thi Hang, a Vietnamese lecturer from Lampang Rajabhat University, and Dr. Nakorn Serirak, a Thai lecturer from the College of Local Administration, Khon Kaen University (Thailand), the book consists of three main parts.

The first part is entitled ‘Vietnam-Thailand diplomatic relationship before 1976’. The second part, which is called ‘45 years of Vietnam-Thailand diplomatic relationship (1976-2021): A historical journey’, features the close and friendly relationship between the two countries. The third part, entitled ‘Dialogue – a general trend in Vietnam-Thailand diplomatic relationship’, analyses the tendency of diplomatic relations between the two countries in the future.

In an interview with the Thai press, Hang said that her motivation in conducting research and publishing the book is to call on the governments and people of Vietnam and Thailand to cherish and preserve this valuable relationship.

“The wonderful diplomatic relationship should be strengthened and developed into a new height in the future,” she said.

According to Hang, one of her greatest challenges during the process of writing the book is to deal with the worst period of the diplomatic relations between the two countries, especially during the American War (1954-1975) in Vietnam. At that time, the US troops used to attack the Vietnamese army from their bases in Thailand.

“Even in that most difficult period of diplomatic relations between these two countries, the Thai people still showcased their good feelings towards Vietnamese. We had made great efforts to address these efforts in the book,” Hang stated.

The book ‘45 Years of Diplomatic Relationship Between Vietnam and Thailand (1976 - 2021): A Historical Journey’ will be widely published in both countries in the coming time.
