THE HANOI TIMES — Hanoi will be affected by an intensified cold air from December 25, with light rain and a significant temperature drop, potentially falling by 7°C during Christmas days.

According to the Northern Regional Hydrometeorological Station, on December 24, areas in northern Vietnam will see light rain in some places, with fog and light mist in the early mornings.
In Hanoi, around December 25, the incoming cold front is forecast to bring light showers, with northeasterly winds of level 3 and a marked shift to cold weather.
Temperatures in the capital will fall from a high of 27°C to 20°C, with lows dipping to 16°C. Rain is expected to taper off afterward, but the cold will persist until late 2025.
Regarding the weather in central Vietnam, the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said showers and scattered thunderstorms are likely, with moderate to heavy rainfall possible between December 25 and 26. Northern parts of the region will experience cold nights and early mornings, with temperatures turning chilly from December 26 onward.
Other regions of Vietnam will see showers and thunderstorms in the evening and sunny weather during the day. In the South, starting the evening of December 24, scattered rain and thunderstorms are expected, with localized heavy rain in some areas.
The center predicted that from December 25, 2025, to January 25, 2026, average temperatures across most of the country will remain near historical norms, with northern Vietnam expected to be about 1°C warmer than usual. No storms or tropical depressions are forecast to develop over the East Sea during this period.
