Communist Party of Vietnam nominates candidates for next term top positions

The Party members will introduce candidates to the highest political positions of the country.

The Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) will nominate candidates for top positions of the country for the next five-year term which will likely begin in January 2021.

The nomination of members of the Politburo – the country’s most powerful body – and the Secretariat will be made at the 14th plenum of the CPV’s Central Committee that opened in Hanoi today [December 14].

The 14th Plenum is scheduled to run until December 20.

The candidates for the Politburo and the Secretariat of the 13th CPV National Congress were selected from the list made in the party’s 13th plenary session held in early October and after the examination of the competent bodies, local media cited the CPV’s Secretary General and State President Nguyen Phu Trong.

Mr. Trong requested that the voting must be for the sake of the country first and foremost.

The Politburo of the 12th National Congress has 19 members initially while the Secretariat has 14 members.
