Craft product design contest launched in Hanoi

The contest is an opportunity for Hanoi's businesses and handicraft workshops to restructure their catalogs.

The Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade has launched the 2024 Handicraft Design Competition to develop fresh, striking, and original designs for local handicrafts, especially those intended as gifts for domestic and foreign guests.

The competition is a prerequisite for Hanoi's enterprises and handicraft workshops to restructure their catalogs and achieve sustainable development of the capital's handicraft industry in the process of international economic integration.

The products will help increase the competitiveness of the city's handicraft production and promote the image, culture, and people of Hanoi.

With the theme "Creative Design - Convergence of Elites," this year's contest, which runs from May to October, will feature new designs for more than 350 handicrafts. Participants will be advised by experts in brainstorming, designing, and finishing the results.

Materials for the competition include ceramic, lacquer, rattan, bamboo, pearl mosaic, wood, horn mosaic, embroidery and silk, copper, stone, and others.

All entries must be submitted to the Hanoi Industrial Promotion and Development Consultancy Center at No. 176 Quang Trung Street, Ha Dong District, Hanoi, before August 30.

The winning products will be displayed at the 2024 Hanoi Handicraft Gifts Fair in October and other events promoting the city's handicrafts.

In 2023, the contest attracted nearly 150 organizations and individuals with more than 350 new products. About 90 products from organizations and individuals were awarded by the Hanoi People's Committee.
