Electronic component assembly jobs ramp up recruitment in Hanoi

Hanoi businesses recruited about 90,000-120,000 workers in May, mainly electronic component assembly workers, office workers, and sales staff, according to an estimate by the Hanoi Center for Employment Services under the municipal Department of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs.

Vu Quang Thanh, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Center for Employment Services, said that the labor market continues to witness a recovery, with a sharp increase in enterprises' hiring demand in April and May.

The industries with high hiring demand were processing and manufacturing, real estate, and banking. Besides, the need for the labor force in the fields of construction, transportation, warehousing, services, accommodation, and catering kept rising.

On the estimate, the number of new market entrants in May increased. About 1,300-1,500 were newly created while the number of enterprises withdrawing from the market is estimated at about 500-700. The unemployment rate in Hanoi is predicted to decline by 1.7-2%.

In addition, with the reopening of tourism activities, the demand for workforce in the accommodation, catering, and travel services will increase by 15-20% compared to the previous period, mainly in positions such as guides and service staff, according to the Center.

Foreseeing recruitment trends, Navigos Search, an employment agency, noted the hiring demand will increase sharply in many industries in Vietnam in the second quarter of 2022. In particular, businesses in the field of tourism and hotel will need foreign personnel for senior leadership positions.

Banks continue to have high recruitment demand for positions related to technology, data, and consulting for high-end banking products. 

Navigos Search also found that the fast-moving consumer goods industry (FMCG) is in need of a labor force as the businesses in this segment are very positive on business prospects in Vietnam.

A large number of foreign businesses are waiting for investment licenses in Vietnam, opening up many business opportunities. This, coupled with the constant job change in the labor market, makes talent-hiring even more dynamic. 

Their business situation is forecast to be even better than before Covid-19. Many small and middle-sized companies in Ho Chi Minh City have been established and their factories in neighboring provinces of Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Long An, and Vung Tau started operating.

While demand for talents in the FMCG industry is high, especially in the e-commerce, and digital fields, the offers are limited, especially for experienced candidates.  

The recruitment demand in this industry is predicted to be high in the second quarter and the following terms in 2022.
