Feb 21: Vietnam reports no new Covid-19 cases

Tens of thousands of people from Covid-19 hotspots have tested negative for SARS-CoV-2 as of February 21.

Vietnam has confirmed no new cases of coronavirus as of 6am on February 21, keeping the tally unchanged at 2,368, according to the National Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control.

Among them, the number of locally-infected cases is 1,469, including 776 newly confirmed carriers of Covid-19 in 13 localities since the latest outbreak was detected on January 27. 

Since January 27, Hanoi has reported about 35 new Covid-19 infections in eight districts of Nam Tu Liem, Dong Anh, Cau Giay, Me Linh, Hai Ba Trung, Tay Ho, Dong Da and Ba Dinh and one case from the northern province of Hung Yen who tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 at the city-based National Lung Central Hospital.

About 46,313 arrivals from the pandemic-hit province of Hai Duong to Hanoi made health declaration, of which 17,500 out of 37,313 have tested negative for SARS-CoV-2. The city also tested 17,461 people living in its Covid-19 hotspots and all the results came back negative for coronavirus. 

As of February 21, 1,627 Covid-19 patients nationwide have recovered and exited hospitals while 35 others have been reported dead.

A total of 125,572 people who had close contact with confirmed Covid-19 patients or came from pandemic-hit regions are being quarantined across the country, including 594 in hospitals and 13,316 in concentrated establishments and at their residences.
