The festival is one of the activities of the project “Promoting the Role of Hanoi Women in Building a Peaceful and Innovative City in the 2023-2026 period”, approved by the Hanoi People's Committee.
The event also marks the start of significant activities by the capital's women to celebrate the 114th anniversary of International Women's Day on March 8, the 25th anniversary of Hanoi's designation as a UNESCO City of Peace, and the 70th anniversary of the capital's Liberation Day (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2024).
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Le Kim Anh, Chairperson of the Hanoi Women's Union, said that women make up 50.4% of the city's population and contribute nearly half of its working population.
She added that in every field, the women of Hanoi always show their talent and elegance, and play a role in the preservation and promotion of the thousand-year-old cultural heritage and heroism of Thang Long - Hanoi.

The festival featured various activities, including exhibitions, introductions, and promotion of Hanoi's culture, products, and cuisine along with those of other countries at 30 booths. The first "Healthy and Beautiful Capital City's Women" walking competition was also held at the opening ceremony of the festival.
In particular, the "Dance of Peace and Friendship" festival featured performances from different cultures presented by artists, international students, civil servants, union members and women from the city.
The organizers hope that the meaningful experiences of the festival will contribute to the dissemination of the traditional cultural beauty of Hanoi and other countries, and promote unity, exchange, connection, integration and development among women in the city and other countries.
The festival also aims to promote the image of the millennial, heroic, civilized, modern city as a safe, friendly and attractive destination for domestic and foreign visitors.
