First-ever Great national unity day held abroad

The day's highlight is the moment when over 1,000 Vietnamese participants form a giant Vietnamese national flag.

THE HANOI TIMES — The Consulate General of Vietnam in Japan hosted first-ever great national unity day on November 16, on the occasion of the 95th traditional day of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (November 18, 1930 - 2025).

Vu Chi Mai, Consul General of Vietnam in Japan, said the event sought to introduce Vietnamese culture to Japanese friends and contribute to building a integrated Vietnamese community which remains connected to the fatherland.

The most memorable moment came when more than 1,000 Vietnamese participants marched together to form a red flag with a yellow star, comprising 15 community components symbolizing the 15-year journey of the Vietnamese Consulate General in Japan.

Nguyen Duy Anh, member of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and head of the organizing committee, affirmed that despite living abroad, every Vietnamese remains connected to the homeland. "The flag represents Vietnam, unity, pride and community strength."

At the event, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Record Association, the representative of the Global Vietnamese Record Organization (VietWorld) awarded the Global Vietnamese Record for “National unity day in the Vietnamese community abroad in Japan”.

Many organizations and individuals were honored for their outstanding achievements in community building, strengthening solidarity, developing associations and actively preserving Vietnamese culture and language in Japan.
