Authorities detected four companies committing software piracy during a software copyright inspection campaign in early 2008.

Authorities detected four companies committing software piracy during a software copyright inspection campaign in early 2008.

The campaign was conducted by a joint-sector team, led by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, which is the start-up for software copyright control activities of the Vietnamese government in the coming time.
Over four days, from May 27-30, the inspection team made surprise inspections of many companies in Hanoi and HCM City and they discovered four firms that committed serious software piracy, causing total losses of billions of VND.
All of them illegally installed popular software like Vietkey, Microsoft Window XP, Microsoft Office and specialised products like AutoCAD, ACD See, Lac Viet Dictionary, etc. in their computers.
Vu Xuan Thanh, Chief Inspector of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said that inspectors will continue keeping an eye o­n businesses to find software pirates
