Hanoi Book Fair marks 70th anniversary of capital's liberation

Over the years, the Hanoi Book Fair has become a popular cultural event for book lovers, promoting reading culture among many domestic readers and international tourists.

The 9th Hanoi Book Fair will be held from September 27 to 29 in the pedestrian zone of Dinh Tien Hoang Street to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the capital's Liberation Day [October 10, 1954 - 2024].

Under the theme "Hanoi: Capital of Culture and Heroes - City for Peace", the Hanoi Book Festival 2024 is expected to attract the participation of local and international publishers who will present various genres of books in 250 booths, ranging from comic books, novels, literature, political literature to bookworms.

In addition, the event seeks to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Hanoi International Book Fair and the 25th anniversary of Hanoi's designation as a UNESCO "City for Peace."

Moreover, it will promote reading culture, encourage reading habits, and stimulate community reading movements to build a learning society. The fair will feature copyright trading, book presentations and launches, author-reader interactions, and exhibitions.

Since 2014, the Hanoi People's Committee has organized the annual event in coordination with the Ministry of Information and Communication, with the participation of 30 publishing houses. Book companies across the country provide a space for reading culture and many attractive programs dedicated to readers.

A book by writer Nguyen Ngoc Tien is introduced at the Hanoi Book Fair 2023.

This year, foreign publishing associations from around the world, as well as many foreign publishers with offices and partnerships in Vietnam and foreign diplomatic missions in Hanoi, will attend the event. Book companies are expected to organize reading events, exchange programs, and 50-70% discounts on books, along with a variety of eye-catching freebies for readers.

According to the organizers, the highlight of the book fair will be a bookcase showcasing the culture and history of Thang Long-Hanoi.

Over the years, the Hanoi Book Fair has become a popular cultural meeting place for book lovers, promoting reading culture among many domestic readers and international tourists.

This year, it is expected to contribute to highlighting the great historical significance of the capital's Liberation Day and reviewing its traditions.
