THE HANOI TIMES — The Hanoi People's Committee has officially approved the establishment of Phase 2 of the Canh Nau Handicraft Industrial Cluster in Thach That District, which will relocate traditional handicraft production and create a centralized, modern industrial area that prioritizes environmental sustainability and technological innovation.
Under Decision No. 2134/QD-UBND, signed by Deputy Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Manh Quyen, the cluster will cover an area of 17.22 hectares and will be developed by Long Bien Group JSC. The project emphasizes green and clean industrial development, including high-tech wastewater treatment, separate stormwater and sewage systems, organized solid waste management, and integrated infrastructure such as roads, street lighting, and green spaces.
The cluster will be home to traditional occupations such as wood processing, high-end handicrafts and other compliant industries. Only enterprises that meet clean production standards and use modern technologies will be allowed to operate here. The goal is to remove polluting workshops from residential areas and place them in a sustainable, well-managed industrial environment.
Its construction will be completed in 24 months and it will operate for 50 years. Investors will enjoy benefits under the Investment Law and Decree No. 32/2024/ND-CP on the Management of Industrial Clusters.
Residential units, lodging, and shopping centers are strictly prohibited within the cluster boundaries. Developers must meet all legal requirements, from planning and environmental assessment to fire safety and land use, before construction can begin.
The Department of Industry and Trade of Hanoi will lead state management for the project, while the Thach That District People's Committee and related agencies will support legal procedures and monitor compliance.
With the development of Phase 2 of the Canh Nau cluster, Hanoi is taking a significant step toward preserving its craft village heritage through cleaner, smarter manufacturing zones that benefit both the economy and the environment.
