THE HANOI TIMES — The city has instructed relevant departments, district authorities, and project management boards to increase supervision of construction sites and enforce safety regulations.

This effort responds to the recent emergency telegram from the Ministry of Construction urging cities to prepare for seasonal challenges, particularly in areas susceptible to landslides and flooding.

City agencies responsible for construction, agriculture and environment, urban rail, and high-tech zones are required to coordinate inspections and ensure that building contractors implement safety and disaster prevention measures. As a result, the city has a number of important safety and disaster prevention actions in place, such as reinforcing structural stability, securing slopes and excavation sites, and maintaining drainage systems.

All construction projects, ranging from civil, transport, and technical infrastructure to rural development, must comply with national safety codes and climate risk protocols. Local governments are tasked with identifying high-risk areas and deploying response teams to handle potential emergencies in real time.

The directive highlights the city’s dedication to protecting lives and reducing disruptions to public works in the event of extreme weather.
