Hanoi Chief Councillor visits Kinh te & Do thi on Vietnam’s 100th Press Day

As one of Hanoi’s leading media outlets, the newspaper has effectively communicated the directives and policies of the Party Committee, as well as the activities of the People's Council and People’s Committee.

THE HANOI TIMES — Chairman of the Hanoi People's Council Nguyen Ngoc Tuan visited Kinh te & Do thi (Economic and Urban) Newspaper today [June 18] to congratulate the newspaper on the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925–June 21, 2025).

Meeting with journalists from the newspaper, Tuan expressed his pleasure at its improvements in infrastructure and working conditions, as well as its achievements in recent years.

He said that as Hanoi undertakes many important, urgent, and long-term tasks to advance the capital’s development, the role of journalism and communications is crucial in this process.

"As one of Hanoi’s key media outlets, the Kinh te & Do thi Newspaper has done an effective job of communicating the directives and policies of the Party Committee, as well as the activities of the People's Council and People’s Committee," said Tuan.

He added that the newspaper has thoroughly reported on the city's achievements in economic and social development, urban management, and social welfare. In particular, the paper has closely coordinated with the People's Council in covering its sessions and the implementation of decisions it adopted.

On behalf of the city leadership and the delegation, Tuan acknowledged and commended the efforts of the newspaper’s journalists. He recognized the unity and cohesion within the leadership and staff as a key factor behind the newspaper’s success.

Tuan also praised the newspaper for its attention to the material and emotional well-being of its employees, its unique workplace culture, and its supportive environment that enables talent to flourish.

Stressing the historical significance of the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day, Tuan encouraged the newspaper to continue embracing innovation and leveraging its strengths in newsroom convergence and digital transformation to improve communication further.

He urged the newspaper to find more effective ways to communicate the policies of the Party and the city to Party members, voters, and the public, thereby reinforcing its role as a conduit between the government and the people.

Editor-in-Chief of Kinh te & Do thi Newspaper Nguyen Thanh Loi thanked city leaders for their continued support of the press in general and his newspaper in particular. He reported that the newspaper has remained committed to its mission while consistently innovating its content, format, technology, and journalistic approach.

The newspaper has successfully built a converged newsroom, accelerated its digital transformation, and improved the quality and strategic value of its journalism, with the aim of amplifying humanistic values and social impact.

Loi reported that the newspaper has consistently won prestigious journalism awards. In 2025 alone, it received three National Press Awards (one B Prize and two C Prizes), a B Prize at the National Press Awards on Party Building, and several top prizes in journalism contests related to party and political system development in Hanoi, Buddhism coverage, and other specialized categories.

The newspaper has also organized impactful media events, conferences, and forums. It has ensured full compliance with labor regulations and provided proper support for its staff.

Looking ahead, Editor-in-Chief Nguyen Thanh Loi said the newspaper will optimize its newsroom convergence model to further enhance the quality of its publications, modernize operations, and apply digital technologies to reporting and management. He expressed hope that city leaders and relevant agencies would continue to support the newspaper’s development.

Chairman Tuan endorsed these orientations and called on municipal departments and sectors involved in press management to continue working closely with the newspaper to formulate the most suitable development plans.

On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day, Tuan once again congratulated all the journalists, editors, and staff of the Kinh te & Do thi Newspaper, and he expressed hope for their continued success in the new era.
