Hanoi forces support citizens ahead of parade rehearsal

These efforts show the close bond between the army and citizens, reflecting shared pride ahead of the September 2 celebrations.

THE HANOI TIMES — Hanoi’s armed forces on August 27 extended supports for people attending the State-level rehearsal for the military parade on the occasion of the 50th National Day at Ba Dinh Square.

Ten temporary tents were set up at key locations such as Tay Son Flower Garden in Hoan Kiem Ward, Le Truc Flower Garden in Ba Dinh Ward, Hanoi Railway Station in Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giam Ward, the Nui Truc - Kim Ma intersection in Giang Vo Ward, and the area opposite 14B Le Truc in Ba Dinh Ward.

Each tent can accommodate several hundred people, equipped with chairs and mats to provide shelter and resting space despite challenging weather and traffic conditions.

Two 96m² tents are set up at the Nui Truc - Kim Ma intersection in Giang Vo Ward to serve citizens.

In addition, 18 wards and communes have arranged free parking lots, with security forces on duty to direct traffic, assist residents from arrival to departure, and ensure safety and order.

From early morning, along streets near the event area, soldiers of Division 308 under Corps 12 set up multiple stations distributing free bread and water to the public.

The Hanoi Communist Youth Union also provides free foods and supplies at 40 locations across the areas where people may gather to watch the military and police units march by.

Lieutenant Colonel Bui Thi Thanh Tuyen of Division 308 said that the distribution program ran on August 24, August 27 and August 30, when local vendors suspended operations to serve the parade.

"Handling supplies to citizens gives me a deep sense of honor and pride," she said.

For Second Lieutenant Do Thuy Tien of Division 308, this is her first time directly serving such a major national event, and she could not hide her excitement.

“Serving the people and sharing the National Day atmosphere makes us proud. Despite the rain, the distribution points stay open and the mood is vibrant, ready for tonight’s parade,” she said.

Ta Thu Trang, a resident of Hanoi's Xuan Dinh Ward, felt emotional when receiving supplies from the soldiers.

"It's a vivid example of the close bond between the army and the people," she said.

“The gifts from the soldiers made me feel the warmth of this bond. This National Day truly feels like a festival of the nation,” she said.

Residents happily receive gifts and take photos with soldiers at distribution points on Ngoc Ha Street.

The rehearsal for the military parade celebrating the 80th anniversary of National Day (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025) will begin at 8 p.m.
