Hanoi inaugurates Press Center for 18th Municipal Party Congress
Hanoi opened the Press Center for the 18th Congress of the Hanoi Party Committee on October 14, aiming to provide timely and accurate information about the event’s activities before, during and after the congress.
THE HANOI TIMES — The Hanoi Party Committee today (October 14) opened the Press Center for its 18th Congress at the National Convention Center in Tu Liem Ward, aiming to provide information and promote activities before, during and after the congress.
According to Le Trung Kien, Deputy Head of the Hanoi Party Committee’s Organization Commission and Deputy Director of the Press Center, the center comprises 18 members, including one director, five deputy directors and representatives from relevant agencies.
Equipped with modern facilities, the center will coordinate and provide official information, photos and audio materials from the congress. It will also support reporters and editors covering the event.

The center operates from October 14-17 at the National Convention Center, where the congress sessions take place. During this period, there will be daily press releases and a final press conference on October 17 afternoon to announce the congress results.
“The press center operation reflects the city’s strong commitment to effective communication and information dissemination surrounding the 18th Congress of the Hanoi Party Committee,” said Kien.
Dao Xuan Dung, Deputy Head of the Hanoi Party Committee’s Commission for Commission for Publicity, Education and Mass Mobilization and Director of the Press Center, said that information and communication play a vital role in spreading the spirit, content and outcomes of the congress among Party members and citizens in Hanoi and across the nation.
“The Press Center serves as an official hub connecting media agencies and reinforcing public trust in the leadership of the Party and city authorities,” he said.
It will be an essential bridge to deliver the atmosphere and results of the 18th Congress quickly, accurately and effectively to the public."
The 18th Congress of the Hanoi Party Committee will open its preparatory session at 1:30 PM on October 15, followed by the official opening session at 7:30 AM on October 16 and the closing session at 3:00 PM on October 17.
The congress will review the implementation of the 17th Congress Resolution (2020–2025 term). It will set goals, directions and tasks for building and developing the capital from 2025 to 2030 with a vision to 2045.
During the congress, Party deputies will elect the 18th Party Committee Executive Board and select delegates for the 14th National Party Congress. Delegates will also discuss and contribute opinions to the draft documents of the 14th National Party Congress.
As Hanoi’s most important political event, the congress defines the city’s political direction, provides guidance for the Party, government, armed forces and citizens to seize opportunities, overcome challenges and build a “Cultured – Civilized – Modern” capital.
Hanoi aims to lead the nation into a new era of prosperity and strength, contributing to Vietnam’s overall development goals by 2030 and vision to 2045.

During the 2020–2025 term, the Hanoi Party Committee demonstrated strong unity, creativity and leadership across all areas, achieving major results that contributed significantly to the nation’s progress.
The city effectively implemented ten key programs, five main tasks and three breakthrough initiatives, fulfilling 16 out of 20 targets set by the 17th Congress, with four exceeding expectations.
Hanoi’s economy rebounded strongly after the pandemic with an average annual growth rate of 6.57%, higher than the national average. Budget revenue surpassed projections and the economic structure shifted in a positive direction.
The city introduced several groundbreaking policies, including the Politburo’s Resolution No. 15-NQ/TW, the 2024 Capital Law and various initiatives on leadership development, cultural industry growth, digital transformation and smart city building.
Hanoi also made progress in culture, education, healthcare and science and technology. Social welfare was ensured and by 2024 and the city had eliminated poverty under its own standards.
Urban infrastructure and planning received significant investment with many key projects completed. Environmental improvements, particularly in the To Lich River cleanup, showed clear results.
Political stability and public security were maintained, while external relations expanded, strengthening Hanoi’s reputation and influence both nationally and internationally.
