Hanoi launches “A80 – Proud Vietnam” digital platform to unite millions for 80th National Day
Hanoi has launched “A80 – Proud Vietnam”, a groundbreaking digital platform serving as the official hub for the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day in 2025, combining national pride with modern technology to connect citizens, overseas Vietnamese, and global friends to the historic celebrations.
THE HANOI TIMES — With the nation preparing for one of its most significant historical milestones, Hanoi has unveiled “A80 – Proud Vietnam”, a modern digital platform designed to be the central hub for activities marking the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution (1945–2025) and National Day on September 2.
A digital cultural space of national scale
The 80th anniversary is both a commemoration and a call to action, an opportunity to honor Vietnam’s history while inspiring patriotism and a vision for the future. Under the guidance of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Hanoi created “A80 – Proud Vietnam” to meet the demands of 21st-century communication.
Available via the website https://a80.hanoi.gov.vn and mobile app, the platform consolidates official, trustworthy information for millions of users. More than a static website, it serves as a “smart companion” for residents and visitors to fully experience every moment of the celebrations.
“This year marks 80 years since President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence at Ba Dinh Square, opening a new era of freedom and sovereignty for our nation,” said Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports Nguyen Thi Mai Huong.
Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Truong Viet Dung, third from right, and officials from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Hanoi launch the A80 – Proud Vietnam website at https://a80.hanoi.gov.vn.
“A80 – Proud Vietnam is a bridge linking past, present, and future, a digital space where each citizen can relive, reflect on, and preserve the sacred values of our history.”
The platform offers a complete schedule of parades, art performances and cultural-historical exhibitions, along with official updates on traffic regulation, security and public health. It also features behind-the-scenes stories, live-streamed events, photo galleries, and community-shared moments.
Its design merges Hanoi’s festive character with national identity. Dominated by red and gold, colors symbolizing pride and unity, the homepage greets visitors with powerful images including President Ho Chi Minh reading the Declaration, grand parade formations, and Hanoi’s most iconic landmarks, including Hoan Kiem Lake, the Opera House, and the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum.
Navigation is simple and intuitive. Event listings are clearly grouped, multimedia libraries are updated in real time, and interactive maps allow users to locate venues, live-screening points, refreshment stations, medical posts, rest areas, and food stalls.
A standout feature is its AI-powered chatbot, designed as a friendly virtual assistant. It recommends events, provides route guidance, and even sends reminders. The platform’s intelligent navigation helps users avoid congested roads and adjusts directions in real time based on traffic updates, an example of how digital transformation can directly improve public event experiences.
Beyond logistics, A80 has ambitions to be more than an event management tool. It is envisioned as a “festival social network,” where users can express patriotism by creating national flag avatars, sharing photos and videos from local celebrations, and interacting through the “80 is Beautiful” section.
This community-driven approach aims to connect millions of Vietnamese worldwide, transforming the 80th National Day into a shared digital festival.
Hanoi, a UNESCO Creative City of Design and a “City for Peace,” has a history of blending heritage with innovation. The launch of A80 reflects the capital’s role as both guardian of national traditions and pioneer of modern cultural engagement.
As Huong stressed, the platform is not only about celebrating the past but also about inspiring the next generation: “Through this platform, we hope to instill pride, confidence, and responsibility in young people so they can carry forward the legacy of their forebears and build a stronger, more modern Vietnam.”
With its rich visuals, interactive tools, and verified content, “A80 – Proud Vietnam” is set to become the go-to source for anyone participating in the 2025 celebrations, whether in person or from afar.
Citizens and visitors can explore the website or download the app from the App Store and Google Play to join in the journey of connection and pride as Vietnam marks this historic anniversary.
A call to remember and renew
In just a few weeks, the streets of Hanoi will be awash in red flags, the sound of marching bands will echo through historic boulevards, and millions will gather, in person and online, to remember the moment when a small nation claimed its place on the world stage.
“A80 – Proud Vietnam” ensures that no matter where you are, from Ba Dinh Square to a small village in the mountains, from bustling overseas Vietnamese communities to classrooms in distant continents, you can be part of this living history.
It is an invitation to celebrate, but also a reminder: the spirit of the August Revolution lives on not only in monuments and parades, but in the unity, resilience and creativity of the Vietnamese people today.
When the fireworks light up the Hanoi night on September 2, they will not only mark the end of a day of festivities. They will illuminate a shared future, one in which technology, tradition, and national pride move forward together, carrying Vietnam’s story into its next chapter.
