Hanoi Party Chief extends greetings to veterans

Ahead of Lunar New Year 2026, Hanoi’s top Party official visited policy beneficiary families and former senior leaders, affirming gratitude and sustained support for those who served the nation.

THE HANOI TIMES — Caring for people who rendered service to the revolution remains Hanoi’s longstanding tradition and a key political responsibility, reflecting Vietnam’s enduring ethos of gratitude, Politburo member and Hanoi Party Secretary Nguyen Duy Ngoc said on February 11.

Ngoc made the remarks as he led a city delegation to visit, present gifts and extend Tet (Lunar New Year) 2026 greetings to exemplary policy beneficiary families and relatives of fallen soldiers in Long Bien Ward ahead of the Year of the Horse 2026.

The delegation visited Dao Hong Nhi, born in 1947, a war invalid with a 46% disability rating in Residential Group No. 35; Nguyen Thi Tien, born in 1933, the mother of fallen soldier Dinh Xuan Loc in Residential Group No. 28; and Nguyen Gia Lam, born in 1958, a war invalid with an 81% disability rating in Residential Group No. 23.

During the pre-Tet visit, the Hanoi Party Secretary asked about their health and living conditions and met with their family members. Ngoc also wished the families good health, peace and prosperity.

He paid tribute to the sacrifices and contributions of wounded and sick soldiers, policy beneficiary families and those who supported the revolution during the struggle for national liberation and defense.

Ngoc called on Party committees, authorities and mass organizations at all levels to further improve preferential policies and support programs for national contributors, ensuring they benefit from improved living standards.

He encouraged veterans and their families to uphold revolutionary traditions, set an example in their communities and continue offering constructive ideas to support the development of Long Bien Ward and the capital in a new phase.

Family representatives expressed appreciation for the attention shown by Hanoi’s leaders and by Party Chief Ngoc personally. They also praised the capital’s socio-economic achievements over the past year.

They voiced confidence that under the Hanoi Party Committee’s leadership, the city will achieve even greater progress in the next stage of development.
