Hanoi’s media outlets need to be more dynamic and creative to deliver news on the city’s development, Kinh te & Do thi newspaper quoted Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Vuong Dinh Hue as saying at a meeting on April 9.

According to Hue, press agencies in the city had performed well, especially in the dissemination on Covid-19 epidemic prevention.

However, they are still short of agility and initiative and not up to the status of the media outlets of a major city, Hue added.

Besides, the press agencies need to follow and implement the Vietnamese government’s directives on network safety and security, information technology development, Hue stressed.

He also requested the Department of Information and Communications to make public the city's political duties, pay special attention to information on socio-economic development and Covid-19 epidemic prevention.

In the time ahead, the city will work with the Ministry of Information and Communications and major telecommunications enterprises to support Hanoi’s press agencies in digital transformation, developing technology platforms, telecommunications infrastructure, connectivity systems and online meeting tools, the municipal Party Chief said.

He has also assigned the municipal People's Committee to research and build a press center which is expected to be a common house for journalists, meeting the requirements for effective press operation.
