Hanoi proceeds with hi-tech health care projects

Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung highlighted the significance of health care projects in improving health care services for local residents.

Hanoi’s health care sector has worked out a number of spearhead projects focusing on upgrading technologies of its health facilities, local media reported.

The projects include the upgrade of Saint Paul polyclinic to meet European standards and become the leading general hospital in the capital city, the transformation of Thanh Nhan hospital’s emergency care, poison control and image diagnosis units into the leading ones, among others.

Specifically, the Hanoi High-tech & Digestive Center was set up at the Saint Paul General Hospital with modern technological system and a European service style. It is the most modern hi-tech digestive center in Vietnam and the first center in Hanoi that meets European standards.

The center has 12 consulting rooms, 10 patient rooms with 45 beds, four endoscopic diagnostic rooms and three operating theaters. Especially, the operating theaters are equipped with the most modern equipment purchased from Karl Storz, the German leading endoscope manufacturer.

Another spearhead project, the first phase of a hi-tech health care complex, expected to cost more than US$1 billion, kicked off in Hanoi’s outskirt Dong Anh district on October 14. The second stage is expected to be finished in 2025, raising the number of beds to 1,000.

Addressing the groundbreaking ceremony, Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung highlighted the significance of the project in improving health care services for local residents, pledging that the city will support the implementation of the project.

The Hanoi Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital has been instructed to set up a support center for andrology and fertility in accordance with international standards, and build a bank for blood stem cell.

Besides, the municipal Deparment of Health (DoH) asked the Hanoi Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital to urgently expand its premises by building a new building facility, synchronously develop the information technology system to control all aspects of the hospital's operation, and pay special attention to data management for scientific research and treatment.

Preventive medicine has been paid due attention by Hanoi health care sector with a number of projects completed, according to the report from the DoH, including projects on preventing and controlling non-communicable diseases, on injury prevention and another one on caring and improving workers' health and preventing occupational disease.

Currently, Hanoi city's emergency center 115 has developed a project to establish zone emergency stations and an emergency coordination room.

In June 2018, a Hanoi delegation led by Mayor Nguyen Duc Chung visited Siemens Healthineers’ headquarters in Forchheim, Germany. At the meeting, the Hanoi official proposed eight cooperation contents with Siemens Healthineers.

Specifically, both sides will join hands in checking hospitals of all levels; planning and classifying the investment fund over respective strengths of each treatment facility; training the human resources; digitalizing and conducting statistical analysis to bring out the most effective treatment measures, applying the Al and IT in treatment, among others.
