Hanoi ramps up medical preparedness for 14th National Party Congress
Adequate resources for epidemic prevention and control in the capital city are ensured throughout the week of the major political event between January 19 and 25.
THE HANOI TIMES — Response measures for all medical contingencies have been well prepared to serve the 14th National Party Congress, according to Dr. Nguyen Trong Dien, Director of the Hanoi Department of Health.
"Ensuring health security, disease prevention and control, food safety, environmental hygiene and readiness to handle any medical situation are the key tasks that directly contribute to the success of the Congress," said Dien.

The department last weekend launched a comprehensive medical campaign in preparation for the Congress, an important step to ensure the smooth provision of all medical services.
Dien underlined that relevant units must maintain round-the-clock duty and be ready to receive and treat patients, provide emergency care, effectively control disease outbreaks and food safety risks.
The director called on officials and workers across Hanoi’s health sector to uphold a strong sense of responsibility and professionalism to ensure absolute medical safety and contribute to the overall success of the Congress.
All necessary equipment and specialized vehicles are fully deployed for duty.
He also requested close coordination with competent forces and local authorities to ensure security, public order and medical safety, alongside enhanced information-sharing about emerging difficulties for prompt guidance and handling.
Pledging to mobilize high-quality human resources, Bui Van Hao, Director of the Hanoi Center for Disease Control (CDC Hanoi), said the center will proactively develop and implement professional plans.
“We will focus on epidemiological surveillance, early detection and timely response to infectious diseases across the city, while also monitoring food supply and food processing establishments serving the Congress and related activities,” said Hao.
Sufficient personnel are ready for any requests throughout the week of the major political event.
Furthermore, the CDC Hanoi will enhance environmental sanitation, conduct disinfection, control health risk factors and monitor water quality at event venues and accommodation facilities for delegates.
The center will maintain a 24/7 on-duty regime, with personnel, equipment, chemicals and medical supplies on standby for swift and effective response to any situation.
According to Tran Ngoc Son, Deputy Director of Saint Paul General Hospital, the hospital is among the units assigned to provide medical services during the Congress.
"We have developed comprehensive plans, mobilized experienced doctors and nurses, set up four medical teams on 24-hour duty at designated locations,” said Son.
In addition, the hospital’s standby team remains on alert at the hospital for rapid response to all emerging situations.
