Hanoi's Spring Book Street 2026 opens with cultural showcase

The 10-day event blends book fair, performances and workshops as the capital marks Tet and a major political anniversary.

THE HANOI TIMES Hanoi’s Spring Book Street 2026 opened on February 13 under the theme “Books Open the Spring Fortune - Welcoming a New Era,” launching a 10-day cultural celebration that runs through February 23.

Organized by the People’s Committee of Cua Nam Ward and the Hanoi Book Street Management Board, the event features a vibrant program of book exhibitions, literary exchanges and traditional art performances, creating a festive cultural space during the Lunar New Year.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Trinh Ngoc Tram, Vice Chairwoman of the Cua Nam Ward People’s Committee, highlighted the growing role of books in enriching knowledge and promoting a learning society.

She emphasized the importance of nurturing reading habits, especially among young people and said the annual spring event has become a hallmark cultural activity in the capital, blending reading promotion with Tet celebrations.

This year’s Spring Book Street combines a book fair, arts festival and interactive experiences, creating a vibrant cultural space for readers during Tet.

The area is decorated with spring-themed installations and traditional elements, while thousands of new titles across genres are on display.

Publishers and distributors are offering promotions and New Year gifts to meet visitors’ demand for entertainment and book shopping before, during and after the holiday.

Outdoor reading areas allow visitors to browse books on site, attracting large numbers of families and young readers and creating a lively yet orderly atmosphere.

Beyond book displays, the program features seminars, children’s activities and hands-on workshops on traditional arts, along with evening film screenings, comedy acts and musical performances that have drawn sizable crowds.
