Hanoi shooting team wins third straight national championship with record success

Hanoi’s triumph at the 2025 National Shooting Championship reaffirmed its dominance in the sport, showcasing strength and consistency on home ground.

THE HANOI TIMES — The Hanoi shooting delegation secured first place overall at the 2025 National Shooting Championship on October 2, marking the third consecutive year it has led nationwide.

Hanoi earned 22 gold, 15 silver and 14 bronze medals, firmly keeping its top position.

In 2024, Hanoi won first place with 21 gold, 13 silver and 11 bronze medals. In 2023, it topped the standings with 20 gold, 15 silver and 13 bronze medals.

The 2025 tournament also produced nine new national records.

Hanoi’s strong results reaffirmed the capital’s leading role in elite sports and boosted the growth of Vietnamese shooting at regional and international stages.

The championship gathered nearly 300 athletes from 13 delegations nationwide, including international medalists such as Trinh Thu Vinh, Pham Quang Huy, Le Thi Mong Tuyen and Nguyen Thi Mai Chi.

Competitors fought for 34 sets of medals across 33 events, including pistol, rifle and clay target shooting. This year marked the second time Compak Sporting, a clay target discipline, was included in the medal program.

Chairman of the Vietnam Shooting Federation Do Van Binh said the tournament helps discover young talent to train for the national team.

In 2025, Vietnam will compete in Compak Sporting for the first time at the Southeast Asian Shooting Championship in October and the 33rd SEA Games in December in Thailand.

The national shooting federation chairman noted that investing in Compak Sporting matches regional and global trends and supports the long-term strategy for Vietnamese shooting.

“Building on achievements at ASIAD 2023, the 2024 Olympics and Asian and Southeast Asian tournaments, we believe coaches and athletes will keep training hard to achieve the best results at the Southeast Asian Shooting Championship and SEA Games 33,” he said.

“We aim to earn 2–3 Olympic slots for 2028 and hope to win medals at ASIAD 2026 and the 2028 Olympics.”
