Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Paty Committee Nguyen Van Phong gave the remarks during a meeting with representatives of Dubai’s authorities.

At the meeting, both sides expressed delight at the strong progress of Vietnam-UAE friendship since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1993.

They shared the view on similarities between the two cities in the vision for economic development, and also of the huge potential for cooperation, especially in fields of investment, trade, and tourism.

“Hanoi wants to cooperate with Dubai’s authorities and the Vietnamese Embassy in UAE to facilitate partnership between businesses from two sides,” Phong said, adding the capital would always welcome and create favorable conditions for UAE investors to look for opportunities here.

UAE is currently one of Vietnam’s major trading partners in the Middle East, the seventh export market, and among the largest investors from Gulf countries having projects in Vietnam.

Meanwhile, Hanoi and Dubai are both members of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN) in the Design category, which would serve as the foundation for the two cities to support each other in activities under the UCCN’s framework and in the organization of activities promoting creativity and art designs.

During the meeting, Phong and his Dubai counterparts also discussed opportunities for cooperation in the fields of tourism, including the promotion of cultural and entertainment activities on an international scale.

With Hanoi and Dubai seen as major tourism markets, both agreed on the necessity to promote tourism via cultural exchange activities and cooperation between travel agencies.

On this occasion, Phong suggested the two cities signed a memorandum of understanding in the field of tourism to facilitate future cooperation activities.

As part of the working trip to the UAE, Hanoi’s high-ranking delegation also visited the Vietnamese Embassy in the UAE. In the visit, Phong highlighted the role of Vietnam’s diplomatic mission in the UAE to boost bilateral relations and called for the embassy to continue serving as a bridge to support Hanoi's expanding partnership with UAE’s localities in the coming time.
