Hanoi tax authorities to provide utmost support for businesses: City Party chief

This year, Hanoi’s budget revenue is estimated at VND240 trillion (US$10.5 billion), exceeding the yearly target by 10.5%.

The Hanoi Department of Taxation is expected to continue joining hands with the city in addressing concerns from the business community through frequent dialogues and administrative reforms.

Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Dinh Tien Dung.

Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Dinh Tien Dung gave the remarks at a meeting with a representative of the local tax department on December 30.

“With the pandemic currently under control, the city has achieved positive results following the resumption of economic activities for socio-economic development,” Dung said, noting the tax department has been instrumental in this process.

Dung added the department has completed two key objectives which are collecting taxes and addressing concerns of businesses and people affected by the pandemic.

“The Hanoi Taxation Department has closely followed the city’s instruction in supporting taxpayers, applying new technologies, and enhancing tax collection from new business models,” he said.

This year, Hanoi’s budget revenue is estimated at VND240 trillion (US$10.5 billion), exceeding the yearly target by 10.5%. Of the total, tax incomes from sustainable sources have been on the rise, including revenue from business and production activities in 2021 at VND141.3 trillion ($6.2 billion), up 17.5% year-on-year.

In addition, revenues from three business components have witnessed positive growth, including the state sector (8%), foreign-invested sector (17%), and private sector (28%).

Director of the Hanoi Department of Taxation Mai Son.

The Director of the Hanoi Department of Taxation Mai Son said in 2022, the agency is determined to surpass the budget collection target by 27%.

“In this process, the authorities are committed to providing substantial solutions to support taxpayers, along with greater efficiency in tax liability management and tax declaration process,” Son said.

Son also stressed the necessity to tighten tax management in e-commerce activities and digital business models, while proposing new policies in this regard to avoid possible tax evasion.

“The tax department would continue to push for IT application in every procedure for the convenience of the public and efficiency in tax collection,” he concluded.
