Hanoi to host Earth Hour 2025 ceremony this weekend

The event will feature a range of interactive activities focused on the environment, climate, and energy.

The Hanoi Times — The launch ceremony for Earth Hour 2025 is scheduled to take place on March 22 at the Hoan Kiem Lake in downtown Hanoi.

The theme of the event is "Green Transition - Green Future". Photo: Organizer.

Thousands of participants are expected to engage with various booths and spaces hosted by companies and organizations in the energy and environment sectors. This will be an opportunity to showcase innovative technologies and products while reinforcing the commitment to clean energy development in Vietnam.

One of the highlights of the event is a creative check-in space featuring a model of a traditional Hanoi balcony equipped with a solar power system. This visual attraction promotes the adoption of renewable energy in residential areas by encouraging people to install solar panels on their balconies to harness clean electricity.

Artistic performances will also be a key part of the event. The "Green Movement" flash mob, performed by university students, especially those in engineering and energy-related fields, will energize the crowd with dynamic dance routines.

These performances will spread messages of environmental protection and sustainability while engaging the audience in an exciting and interactive way. Additional student-led performances will further promote green living and environmental responsibility.

Another unique attraction is the Energy-Generating Cycling Activity, where participants can generate clean energy by pedaling special bicycles. These bikes charge cell phones and power an LED board that displays the event's slogan. To add to the excitement, organizers will reward those who generate the most energy in a given time, making it both an educational and entertaining experience.

The event is organized by the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade and AT Media, with support from the German Development Cooperation (GIZ), and the Southeast Asia Energy Transition Partnership (ETP) under the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS). It will run from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm.

With the theme "Green Transition - Green Future", Earth Hour 2025 aims to raise public awareness about energy conservation, environmental protection, and sustainable energy transition in Vietnam. More than just a campaign, it serves as a platform for community engagement and inspires meaningful action towards a greener and more sustainable future.
