Hanoi unveils new incentive to boost green industry

Hanoi aims to promote cleaner production and sustainable consumption, along with supporting measures for green industries and low-carbon manufacturing.

THE HANOI TIMES — Hanoi will accelerate green industry development through its newly approved Industrial Promotion Program for 2026–2030, according to Decision 6069/QD-UBND signed by Vice Chairman of municipal People's Committee Nguyen Manh Quyen.

The program prioritizes cleaner production, sustainable consumption and low-carbon manufacturing, aligning with the city’s goals for environmental protection, green growth and the circular economy.

It also targets stronger value-chain linkages, digital transformation and closer government–business cooperation to advance green industrial growth.

Key actions for 2026–2030 include support for technical demonstration models, technology transfer and the adoption of modern machinery and advanced technologies in both industrial and handicraft production.

The program will also support the development of rural industrial products. Hanoi plans to organize five Hanoi Giftshow international fairs for handicrafts, with each fair featuring 500 to 600 booths aimed at regional export markets and positioned as part of the world’s major international craft fairs.

Between 200 and 300 enterprises and producers of handicrafts and rural industrial goods will receive support to participate in international industry fairs.

Another 100 to 150 rural industrial establishments will receive assistance to introduce information technology and digital solutions for product promotion and development.

The city will also provide support for investment promotion in industrial clusters, address environmental pollution in clusters and rural industrial facilities and help a higher-quality workforce. Additional assistance will be offered for management capacity building, along with advisory services for rural industrial businesses.

Hanoi will also improve access to industrial information and strengthen communication activities. The program includes 10 training courses for 1,000 officials to improve their understanding of regulations related to industrial promotion activities.
