Hanoi wants Canada to support education - training development

Chairman of Hanoi People`s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung received Canadian Ambassador to Vietnam David Devine to bid farewell for his end-term in Hanoi on September 9.

At the meeting, Ambassador David Devine affirmed that Vietnam is a Canada's important partner with the largest trade turnover in the Southeast Asia.

At present, Vietnam has more than 5,000 students studying in Canada and more than 100,000 Canadians travel to Vietnam annually, the diplomat.
The Canadian Government considers Vietnam as an important partner in the development strategy in Asia, the ambassador stressed, and adding that Canada will participate in the APEC Summit scheduled to taka place in Vietnam in 2017.
He also expressed his wish that the Vietnam and Canada, especialy Hanoi capital will continue to strengthen cooperation in the fields of economy, education - training, tourism and cultural exchanges as well as issues of mutual concern.
To accomplish the goal, the two sides should establish working group between the Ambassador of the Hanoi People's Committee, Ambassador David Devine proposed.
The diplomat also thanked Hanoi's authorities for helping him to fulfill the missions in Vietnam.
Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung highly praised the positive contributions of Ambassador David Devine to promoting friendship relations and economic cooperation between the two countries.
Agreed with the Ambassador's proposal, Chairman Chung said that Canada has the strengths in the fields of advanced education, cultural diversity, high-tech agriculture, environmental remediation, infrastructure management and development, and urban transport.
The Chairman suggested that the ambassador will help to expand cooperation in these areas Hanoi needs in great demand.
The Hanoi leader expected that Ambassador David Devine will become a bridge to promote cooperation, call on Canadian investors doing business in Hanoi, and establish cross-cultural activities, thus boosting the friendship relations between the two countries and Hanoi city.
