Hanoi welcomes over 18 million visitors in January-July period

International travelers accounted for 23% of the city's arrivals in the first seven months of this year, marking a 22% year-on-year increase.

THE HANOI TIMES — Hanoi attracted an estimated 18.36 million tourists in the first seven months of 2025, up 11.6% year‑on‑year, including 4.21 million international visitors, of whom 2.97 million stayed overnight.

The city's total tourism revenue during this period was estimated at VND73 trillion (US$2.92 billion), up 14.5% from the same period last year.

According to the Hanoi Department of Tourism, the impressive growth was attributed to a rise of 10.3% in the number of visitors to the city in July, which reached some 2.8 million people. Of those visitors, 20% were international arrivals, which is a 25.2% increase over the same period last year.

The city is expected to welcome an increasing number of visitors for the celebrations of the 80th anniversaries of the August Revolution and Vietnam National Day, which fall on August 19 and September 2, respectively.

Dang Huong Giang, Director of the Hanoi Department of Tourism, said that the department will carry out several key activities in August, including a conference on managing and developing tourist destinations in Hanoi, a delegation to promote Hanoi’s culture and tourism at the Osaka Expo and in Nagoya, Japan, the Hanoi Beverage Festival 2025, and participation in ITB India with a promotional program for Vietnamese tourism in that country.

In addition, the department will collaborate with local authorities to introduce new tourism products under the theme "Hanoi Tourism: Convergence of Essence 2025." These efforts will focus on developing agricultural and rural tourism, night tourism, golf tourism, and community-based tourism linked to the traditional cultural experiences of ethnic minority communities.
