Hanoi welcomes seven million tourists in Jan-Mar period

The capital’s tourism industry has experienced significant growth in the first quarter of 2025, with over seven million visitors recorded in just three months.

THE HANOI TIMES — Hanoi is experiencing a tourism growth in 2025, with a remarkable 7.3 million visitors in the first quarter of this year, an 8.7% increase compared to the same period last year.

What’s more striking is the surge in international arrivals, which reached 1.85 million, marking a 17.4% rise in foreign visitors. This momentum is not only a sign of recovery but also a reflection of the capital’s rising appeal as a must-visit destination.

As Vietnam continues to emerge from the shadows of the pandemic, Hanoi's tourism sector is thriving. In January-March period, the city’s tourism revenue reached VND29.93 trillion (about US$1.25 billion), marking an 11.3% increase year-on-year.

During the first quarter, Hanoi was promoted as a cultural hub with a series of events, including the "Connecting Tourist Destinations along the Red River" conference and the promotion of the Quang Phu Cau Craft Village.

To attract more visitors, the Hanoi Tourism Department has been conducting a series of programs to promote the city as a top tourist destination.

Additionally, the agency continues developing new initiatives, including experiential tourism offerings at heritage sites such Ha Mo in Dan Phuong District, a new tourism route called "Nam Thang Long - Hanoi Heritage Road", and community-based tourism experiences in An Phu Commune, My Duc District. At the same time, the city will host major events such as the Hanoi Tourism Gift Festival 2025 and the Hanoi Tourism Festival 2025.
