Hanoi fair gives consumers better access to safe agricultural products

The fair will contribute to the success of the campaign to encourage Vietnamese people to prioritize the use of Vietnamese products.

Hanoi's 2024 Safe Agriculture and Food Fair is underway at the Thang Long Mega Market Center to provide the capital's consumers with better access to safe products.

With the participation of over 100 enterprises nationwide, the fair  showcases regional specialties and OCOP products such as Son La garlic, Quang Ninh hand-pressed squid, Shan Tuyet tea from Ha Giang Province, Hung Yen honey, Hanoi green rice products, and others.

Tran Thi Ha, a resident of An Binh City Housing Complex (Bac Tu Liem District), told The Hanoi Times: "The products sold at the fair are diverse and reasonably priced with clear origins, so I feel safe shopping here."

Tran Thi Phuong Lan, Acting Director of the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade,  said the fair is expected to improve the effectiveness of food control throughout the city.

"We hope that the fair will contribute to the success of the campaign to encourage Vietnamese people to prioritize the use of Vietnamese goods and ensure the supply of goods to serve locals and tourists. The department will organize a series of events such as: Green Consumer Fair - Safe Products 2024 in August, Food Safety Festival during the Mid-Autumn Festival, Fruit Festival 2024 in October and about 40 other trade events this year," said Lan.

Duong Thi Hue, director of Soc Son Food and Agricultural Products Co., Ltd. in Hanoi said her company has been displaying  its that lat fish patties - a typical food product made with raw materials from Hau Giang Province - for the past few years.

"At this fair, we have demonstrated all stages of fish processing on the spot, with all steps to produce grilled fish patties according to food safety standards. All customers can taste our products," Hue shared with The Hanoi Times.

Tran Trong Binh, Director of Moc Chau Veterans Cooperative, expressed his hope that through the fair, the cooperative will find more partners and customers, and that safe agricultural products and food from Moc Chau District will be on the shelves of Hanoi's supermarkets, especially honey products, custard apples, Cuban avocados, and others. "This will help Hanoi's customers to know more products from Son La Province," Binh said.
