Authorities have so far processed over 2,200 applications, ensuring the secure and efficient issuance of digital IDs for foreigners in Ho Chi Minh City.
THE HANOI TIMES — Police in Ho Chi Minh City are expediting the issuance of digital identification (ID) for foreigners as part of a 50-day campaign to promote national digital transformation and commemorate the 80th anniversary of the People's Public Security Force.
At a press conference on July 10, Major General Nguyen Thanh Huong, the city police's deputy director, said IDs are being issued to foreigners with temporary or permanent residence cards and verified mobile numbers.
This process is in accordance with Government Decree No. 69/2024/ND-CP regarding digital identification and authentication.
Officials are accepting applications daily from July 1 to August 19, from 7:30 AM to 9:00 PM, excluding weekends and public holidays.

The Immigration Management Division of the city police has worked during and outside of regular hours and upgraded equipment to ensure fast, seamless processing without delays.
To date, the division has issued digital IDs to over 2,200 foreigners, processing an average of 400 applications per day.
Digital IDs allow foreigners to complete administrative procedures via the VNeID app, reducing paperwork, saving time, and improving access to online public services.
The system ensures strong data security, legal identity verification, and better integration into Vietnamese society.
